
Usually you get to eat Yam rice when you eat pork soup rice and it has always been my favorite because it is flavorful where you can even just eat it on its own. Feeling adventurous, I browsed some recipe from other blogs and attempted it myself.

The ingredients are mushroom, chicken cutlets, mini shrimp and of course yam. I bought the smallest size yam I could find at the market and yet I still have lots of leftover. Next time I will plan ahead to cook this together with maybe Yam dessert.

Preparation is simple. Cut the yam into small cube, soak and slice the mushroom, soak the shrimp and marinate the chicken with oyster sauce, soya sauce, pepper and salt. Stirfry those ingredient 1 by 1 with oil till fragrance then add the uncooked rice for a quick stir to blend the sauce with the rice thoroughly. After that, just dump everything into rice cooker, add enough water (should be slightly less than usual) and season to taste.
