It’s amazing these days you get to enjoy good offer every now and then because of the economy crisis. While some promotions are more marketing than value for money, there are still genuine promotions like McDonald RM5.99 lunch set that actually quite value for money. Recently a friend asked me for a location of a plaza nearby my house and it turns out that she was looking for the location of a restaurant that offering a RM12.90++ Eat All You Can Spaghetti Lunch set. It was Valentine day again and this is our first valentine after our marriage. I know many would expect a more than special valentine for our first year, so where are the roses!??? Sadly I didn’t buy any because I felt is just way overpriced… I rather spend the money on good food. For this year, rather than going to those expensive restaurants, I chosen this rather normal restaurant that serve Italian food, Bianco. It is located at Damansara Perdana and was my first time there also… Continue reading ‘Valentine 2009 at Bianco, Damansara Perdana’

Since it was Christmas for the year 2008, we went out for a semi decent good meal. We haven’t patron Itallianis for quite some time and decided to return there for this occasion. Since the last visit almost more than year ago, we noticed the menu has a lot more varieties now which is a good thing. Hopefully they can maintain their quality of food. One of my favorite type of pasta is carbonara because of the creaminess and of coz’ the bacons! I tried buying off-the-shelve carbonara in a tin and it tasted awful and I have no idea how to make the sauce until I googled it one day. Too my surprise, it was amazingly simple to make! However, the cost of the ingredients are not cheap.
The original carbonara sauce doesn’t use cream, but the modern more commercialized version use heavy dose of cream. My version of carbonara sauce, of cuz’ I went for the creamy version.
I have some left-over chicken breast, so I decided to use it as the side dish for the pasta. I marinate the chicken with salt, black peper and some Italian mix herbs. Continue reading ‘Carbonara with Baked Chicken Fillet’
Feeling adventurous, I tried something I haven’t try before. I have cook spaghetti many times but it was tomato based every single time using Prego sauce.
I bought my first bottle of Olive oil. Oh boy, this oil is freaking expensive compare to the normal cooking oil I have been using. All this while, I couldn’t bother with olive oil until I watch the series by Gordon Ramsey whereby it is used extensively because of how incredible healthy it is. I actually thought of substituting all my cooking oil with olive oil before I set out to buy a bottle. Of course this is before I’m aware how expensive olive oil is in Malaysia.
In the end, I bought a small bottle of 500ml for my Italian project.

The ingredients after chopped and marinated.

I’m quite satisfied with my first attempt. My wife commented is a bit too dry. I guess I was too stingy on the olive oil.
