Anyone went to the MyFM anniversary concert at Genting Highland? My wife gotten 2 free tickets from MyFM and since it is free, we thought why not. I actually have a bit of concern due to the recent H1N1 outbreak but my wife really wish to go. We managed to book a hotel room at New World and off we go on 15 August 2009.

The problem with our free tickets is that since it is not those VIP tickets, we have to go early and line up to exchange it for a numbered seating ticket. The registration started at 12pm but the queue already super long when we reached there around 10.30am.

So we went to the back and line up patiently. Lucky there was a TV shooting for MyFM at our area and we were asked to be “calefe” for them. Hopefully we were caught in the camera.

When it comes to food in Genting, is always expensive. The fast food here is priced higher than usual. While we don’t actually mine paying higher price for a decent food but sadly, the food here is just bad. We went to Hou Mei for our lunch. It was kinda crowded so we thought it should be alright, but oh my the food is just plain sucks.

The hainanese chicken rice is pretty bland and worst is cold. I know the air here is cold but they should at least heat it properly.

So we ordered a chicken porridge, while this is hot but the taste is pretty awful. Overall, a very bad restaurant.

After a disappointed lunch, we decided we gonna go for a more premium restaurant for our dinner so that we get some decent food. We went to Shanghai 10. While this is slightly better than the one we had during lunch, but still is pretty normal.

Our RM18 prawn fried rice looks so good on menu, but the real thing is so dissapointing.. some more is RM18 for a few pieces of small prawns. Another dissapointment sigh…

After dinner, then is the concert time. The Arena Star hall is pretty nice and huge. I was kinda expecting a low budget concert since it is a free but I’m surprised that MyFM throw a really impressive concert almost matching those paid super star concert. The lighting, sound system and stage decoration is top notch. The programme is also very decent as they managed to invite singer from HK’s Farmer, a super gorgeous girl from Taiwan and many local artist.

Even the DJ from MyFM also take part doing a remake of Journey to the West vs Ghost Buster.. hahahalol…

Overall, it is one hell of a night.

After the concert, we went to catch some Starbucks coffee while enjoying the cold breeze in the middle of the night. I must say, this is as good as you would expect from Starbucks.

The next morning before we check out, we were given a free breakfast by the hotel. As it is free, you probably can guess what we going to eat.

I think next time I’m sticking to fast food in Genting.
