29AugHoneymoon, Part 4 : …and finally the food in HK!

My first reason to go HK for my honeymoon is cheap clothing, while my second reason has to be the good food in HK! Arm with a book borrowed from a fren, that list down all the highly recommended and award winning food and restaurant for year 2006, together with a HK map, I started my mission to eat all the book has to offer!.. and was able to taste half of the recommendation in the book and traveled to many corners of HK. So lets start the ball rolling…!!

The first thing that I tried when I reached HK is the mango dessert by a popular chain stall which conveniently has a branch just right outside my hotel. They are specialize in mango and offer many mango dessert variation. There are just too much choice so I end up ordering a mango platter that has a bit of everything and also a mango sago juice.

Being a fan of dim sum, one has to try the original HK dimsum from HK of course!

The prawn dumpling was pretty alright while the pork dumpling was so so..

We always eat steamed pork ribs with yam locally, but this version use pumpkins… it was quite refreshing and delicious.

A typical steamed ‘cheong fun’. The skin was rather thick but it was kinda melt in your mouth softness and the soya sauce was extremely tasty!

One of the book recommendation was Mak’s Wanton Noodle.

The wantons and dumplings are filled with lots of fresh prawns!!

HK also famous for their ‘tong sui’. One noticeable difference from our local one was that they are not stingy to use lot of ingredients. Check out those bowls filled with stuffs!!

Also, HK is famous for their egg tart which claim that even the worst in HK is better than the best in Msia. So is a must try and I went to Honolulu cafe, one of the book recommendation which claim to offer the best egg tart in HK.

Upon my first bite into that soft juicy yummy egg yoke in the center.. i’m high already… it is that good!

Another popular dish in HK, is congee. I have been to many congee shop in the book and sampled many types of congee. There were all great!

One of the best congee I had was the Pork Intestine congee in this restaurant below.

Evening tea meal time… snack!! We found this shop that was kinda popular for their soya dessert like soya bean, tau fu far and other simple meal.

Another snack from a restaurant just behind my hotel also one of the recommendation from the book, was the pineapple bun. We order a pork rice with cheese too.

Roast goose.. also a must try when you go HK as it is kinda consider one of the national dish in HK. After a lot of reseach, and also a recommendation from the book, we went to Hung Kee which arguably offer the best roast goose in HK. The restaurant was of those more premium and expensive type. But, if you gonna try something once, you just got to go to the best.

The starter while we eagerly waiting for our goose, was a no frill century egg. But looks closely to the texture of the yoke.. Oh my… just by looking you will know it will be extremely sinful and yummy with all those runny yoke in the middle. Here a close up for you to enjoy the super duper wonderful yoke…

I sucked and licked the juice slowly like you are doing…. nvm.. anyway, it was the best century egg I had so far in my life….

We ordered another prawn dumplings and this is by far the best we had in HK…

And finally after 30min, our goose arrived…. the presentation not what I expected.. lol… but nevertheless it taste better than our local typical roast duck. It was rather pricey also.. RM80 for half a goose…

Those food was all from the famous restaurant in HK. We spent our last day in Macau and of course, my quest for good food continues.

Porkchop bun, one of the must-try in Macau. It was pretty tasty but I expected more especially when this snack was this famous.

And Portuguese egg tart, another must-try in Macau. Pricey at RM3 each for a small tart but it was extremely tasty… I ate 4 myself.

And next, you have a typical no-frill instant noodle with luncheon meat. It was a popular quick meal for HK ppl. For some reason, it was kinda tasty for an instant noodle.

Then we tried this famous shop that offer many dessert using fresh cow milk. Popular on the menu was steam milk and I ordered a Cow milk with coconut and icecream.

I have been saving this for last, our final meal in our trip, and also one of the meal that I voted for the best meal in the entire trip! A restaurant in Macau…

They served a huge variety of Asian delicacy. It was soooo good that we went back there and tried their other offerings the next day before we depart.

Extremely tasty fried beef noodle.. flavorful and strong in ‘wok-hei’…

A plate of mix braised pork, cuttlefish, fish and beef. Pretty tasty.. those that like fat fat meat will love it..

Congee with Crab meat and roe… even better than the one in HK!!.. and we accidentally ordered a weird dish of Fish skin.. However, it was pretty tasty when eat it with congee…

And finally, the dish that I voted for the best dish I had in the entire trip.. a simple Yang Chow fried rice. One of the super bestest fried rice I ever had…

All those wonderful food I will miss them. We actually tried many more and some I have forgotten to take photo. To see all the photos from my trip, please click on the link below…
