25JulAge +1 at Skewers Bbq&Grill, Subang Avenue

Is that day of the year again where you officially become 1 year older. It is my birthday today and my wife and my sister spent me a dinner at Skewers and a slice of Tiramisu Brandy cake!

The bar-like restaurant offers quite a huge seating capacity. You can choose to sit outside that has a huge projector TV or leisure around cushion seating enjoying a glass of beer.

The chef doing some flaming on those skewers. They are specialize in skewer flame grilling with a varieties of meat ranging from chicken, seafood, beef, lamb to sausage and even vegetables.

They sell a wide range of alcohol but since we not much of an alcohol fans, we settled for some fresh juices. At RM10, it is rather expensive for a slightly larger than standard size glass.

Both of us capturing at the same time, perfect shutter timing capturing the flare from the AF sensor…

The birthday boy…

We ordered the Skewers Special Garlic Butter Prawn RM23, which comes with some pasta, mashed potato and fresh salad. The prawn was fresh, seasoning was on the mild side, taste was okay. But I felt it doesn’t have much grill/burnt taste.

Next up, the Minty Lamb skewer at RM24 was just average. Again there was not much grill/burnt taste in it, seasoning was lacking and some of the meat was pretty tough to chew at.

The Ultimate Skewers Glutton Burger received many recommendation from those blogs that I read hence I gave this a try. At RM23, it is pretty competitive to those huge burgers at Chilis. You get a big beef patty with fried egg, cheddar cheese, chilli con carne, tortilla chips, jalapenos and gherkins on top. The burger tasted okay but what truly stand out was the accompany Seasoned Steak Fries. Crispy on the outside, while hot and soft at the inside, the fries was good!

Overall for the price that we were paying, I expected the food to taste much better. Especially when comes to grill food, it has to be strong in taste and those signature burnt taste that usually associated with this kind of food preparation.

Best dish of the night has to be the dessert, the Tiramisu Brandy cake was really good. The taste of the alcohol Brandy was strong and the texture of the cake was smooth and soft.

Thanks to my sis for treating us the meal. The bill came out to be around RM130++ including tax, and we gotten a 15% discount for being a Digi user. But still, not a cheap dinner!

Location:
Skewers are located at the ground floor of Subang Avenue, corner and facing outside.

Wao.. .this post is 新鲜滚热辣出炉 (fresh boil hot spicy out from oven)

Overall it is quite disappointed as the drink is not sweet enough even though it is 100% fresh (maybe because there are no sugar added). The food did not taste “grill”, not flavorful. and not hot enough. Especially the lamb, for non-lamb eater like me, i felt the “lamb” smell still very strong.
