17JunSecret of Louisiana, RM12.90 Spaghetti Buffet!

It’s amazing these days you get to enjoy good offer every now and then because of the economy crisis. While some promotions are more marketing than value for money, there are still genuine promotions like McDonald RM5.99 lunch set that actually quite value for money. Recently a friend asked me for a location of a plaza nearby my house and it turns out that she was looking for the location of a restaurant that offering a RM12.90++ Eat All You Can Spaghetti Lunch set.

At first my reaction was “meh, too good to be true”, so I helped her Google for more information and after reading couple of blogs and checking out the term and conditions, it is really that real! Secret of Louisiana located inside the new Plaza Kelana Jaya, is actually very near to my house. Not wasting any time, I invited a friend and head over there the next day, even beating my friend that told me about it.

(Sitmei, you can start drooling over the picture first till you get your chance…):p

Spaghetti is usually pretty expensive stuffs because the heavy use of cheese, cream and olive oil. RM12.90 is a super bargain just for the spaghetti buffet alone. But with that price, you are also given a complimentary glass of Ice Peach Tea, a refillable! salad bowl, a refillable! soup and a scoup of ice cream! I mean that is just WOW…!!!

The soup was so so, the salad was okay, the drink was normal.. nothing special but hey is free and refillable.. so not complaining…

There are 6 types of spaghetti to choose from. On the first round, we ordered the Chicken Stir Fried Spaghetti as seen on the first picture above, and is pretty alright. Pasta Chicken Smoked Sausage below is your usual tomato based spaghetti with some toppings. It was okay but I think the sausages were off the lower quality.

Next round, we ordered the Carbonara Chicken and is actually below average. First off there is no bacon, and then the sauce is just all cream and bland.

However, the Mexican Aglio Olio is very nice and we agreed that this is the best among the 4 that we tried. Mexican? I find it is just your usual Aglio Olio. It is not even spicy so not sure which part of it is Mexican.

We were quite full after the Carbonara so we didn’t try the last 2 spaghetti. We end our meal with a scoop of ice cream. While it is no Haagen-Dazs, but it was better than I expected.:D

Overall, the quality of the food is way better than I expected from a RM12.90 buffet. I went with an expectation of lousy cut cost food but ended up with a good experience. The restaurant is actually decently decorated and you get to dine next to a lake enjoying the view. Not sure when the promotion will end but I’m definately returning for a few more times before it ends.

The promotion is only valid for lunch from Monday to Friday. 10% tax is applicable. For more information and map to this restaurant, please click here.
