Past weeks was rather busy for me but let start off the month with my experience at Pick n’ Brew at 1 Utama. Growing up at Ipoh has made me a coffee addict and with the introduction of Coffee Bean (their iceblended is so great!) in Malaysia many years ago, I have become even crazier. Having read some blogger review about this place and seeing their advertisement around 1 Utama, I know it is a rather expensive dining. But I decided to try it nevertheless.
As I entered the restaurant, I can’t help but fascinated by their deco at the entrance. It was a crafted painting of world production coffee bean using fake beans. Very nice imo…

The dining environment is very nice and I saw most of the patrons just sat down at 1 corner comfortably reading some books and enjoying a cup of coffee.

There was only a few tables of customer and the food actually take slightly longer than average to arrive. While waiting for our food, I saw this unique bottle that was able to hold olive oil and vinegar in the same bottle on the table.

Aside from their set lunch at RM28 for a soup, a main course and a glass of Ice Americano which still kinda affordable, all others ala carte item on the menu is rather steep pricing. My wife settled for the set lunch to help ease the bill while for me, I went for the ala carte because I didn’t come here for simple coffee like Ice Americano.

They have an extensive selection of coffee beans for black coffee, grouped into 3 categories from mild to strong depending on how crazy you are. Then they also have those more fusion type like ice blended or alcohol flavored. I ordered the alcohol flavored Bailey’s Ice Bleeded at RM28! Rather expensive comparing to Coffee Bean, but comparing to Mud Slide from TGIF is still OK, at least that is what I thought until they serve me the drink.. oh my oh my.. the glass is so SMALLLLL! I swear I can finish it in 2 sucking! It tasted ok but the alcohol taste is not strong enough. Mud Slide from TGIF still the best!
( Don’t let my photography angle trick you about the size of the glass )

My wife picked the Mediterranean Chicken Chop from the set lunch. It looked and tasted delicious. However, the portion is suitable for the girls only.

As for me, I chose the cheapest main course on the menu, the Cheese Beef Burger at RM20 or more i couldn’t remember. While the size is not as huge as those from Chilis, but the ingredient look much more decent comparing to the similar price burgers at Newyork Newyork Deli.

The taste of the burger is nice and the texture of their beef patty is nice. Not your usual over processed patty.

The bill ended up to RM90~ for the 2 of us and we only managed to fill 70% of our stomach. I might be returning for their coffee MAYBE… but as for the food, I think I pass.. ![]()
