30JulMixed Vegetables with Fermented Beancurd

This is one of my favorite vegetarian dish that I get to eat it all the time when I was small. My father is a vegetarian for many years. I always miss this dish ever since I moved out and stay on my own. Continue reading ‘Mixed Vegetables with Fermented Beancurd’

Yesterday was my birthday and finally I breached the big 3!.. damn I suddenly feel old. We went to Jarrod & Rawlins, a restaurant specialize in pork! Price is a lil’ bit more expensive than the usual western fares, but I feel is kinda okay considering you get to eat pork cooking which is rather limited in my country.

From the menu, you get to choose a varieties of main course or you can opt for the grill with a wide selection of meat of your choice. I ordered a plain pork burger at RM20 with each top up at RM4. I added bacons and I always saw that pork burger goes with blue cheese hence I added that as well. Oh my.. what a big mistake. Let me warn you, blue cheese is not for everyone. Then we ordered some varieties of pork sausages and pork chop from the meat counter for grilling. It was very nice as you can really taste some charcoal burnt infused in the meat.

Overall the bill came to about RM80++ for the 2 of us with drinks and 10% tax. Definitely deserve a revisit.

22JulSteam Chicken with Herbs and Wine

This is extremely easy to prepare if you on the rush. You can buy those pre-customized mix herb for meat steaming from chinese herbal store. Soak it in water for couple of minutes before use. In the mean time, arrange the chicken cutlets in a steel plate and sprinkle salt (more than usual) on it. Then put the herbs on top and pour a decent amount of Shaoxing wine all over it and put it in a steamer for 10-15min. I added some garlic for extra kick. Usually I prepare all this then go take a bath while steaming and get to eat right after. :D

16JulNam-yue Mashed Potato

I finally picking up cooking after stopping for 2 weeks due to my pre-wedding photoshooting session. For a simple return, I cooked mashed potato using nam-yue (red fermented beancurd) instead of the typical variation using oyster sauce or soya sauce. My dad used to cook this when I was young and is how I gotten introduced to this variation.

Simple ingredients like garlic, red onion, some meat (optional) like pork slice or roasted porkbelly and some green onion for garnishing. Cut the potato to thin slices in order to cut cooking time. Braise it with lots of water till it mash then throw in the pre-fried meat and green onion. Season it with salt and some pepper. Mix them and cook it for another 1 minute or two.

11JulPre-wedding Photoshoot Event

My diet plan finally comes to an end. If you have read my previous post on My Evolution, I set myself a goal to cut as much weight as possible for the D-day, and that day has finally over. So how much weight I have lost over the period of 10 months of suffering with 1 meal a day? I lost 31 pounds in total! Damn.. I look blardy good-looking now…. ;)

All that was for my wedding photoshooting in July. My package comes with 2 days photoshooting and we chose the KTM HQ and Pavilion for our first day and Putrajaya for our second day. Overall I’m quite happy with the whole event and the outcome although there a few misses here and there when I finally give it a thorough thought after the whole thing. We ran into some security guard issue at the Pavilion which prohibit us from taking some of the location we originally wanted, we couldn’t take any sunset shot at the Putrajaya due to gloomy sky and couple of creative artistic shot that I only managed to come out with after the whole thing.

I’m seriously considering hiring them for a third day to make it a perfect one.. hahaha. But anyway, I will decide on that after I view my photos on 22 July.

Here are some of the photos I taken myself. My wife all set and ready to go!

Here are the crew members from the Love Vision Bridal studio that was assigned to us. Bunch of nice people especially the funny photographer and his assistance.

Stay tune for the actual wedding photos when I get hold of them!
