24JunEgg Benedict

Eggs Benedict is a dish that consists of English muffin (or any similar bread), topped with ham or bacon, poached eggs, and the special hollandaise sauce. The first time I had this wonderful breakfast dish was at Coffee Bean many years ago. I like eggs, ham, bacon a lot and anything creamy therefore making it my instant favorite.

Couple of years later I came across a store selling instant Hollandaise sauce. I didn’t buy it since it was rather pricey and decided to make my own sauce. After searching around, I’m surprised that it was actually very simple to make. Hollandaise sauce is an emulsion of butter and lemon juice using egg yolks as the emulsifying agent. All the ingredients are commonly used and available. Continue reading ‘Egg Benedict’

22JunQigong at Damansara Uptown and SlippedDisc

Being born into a modern world and has great interest in IT, Qigong was really not those hobbies that I see myself getting into. It all started on February 2008 when my gf developed a condition call herniation disc or commonly known as Slippeddisc. It changes our way of life and our thinking since then.

According to modern medical science, there is no natural cure other than surgery but because the problem lies in the spinal cord and your nerve, it is a rather scary surgery. We did a lot of research, consult orthopedic specialist and decided to opt for physiotherapy rather than surgery. It didn’t turn out too well, the condition stabilized but still doesn’t show good progress. The physiotherapist although is a westerner practicing western medication, believes in eastern treatment such as qigong and those wild wild stuffs like Craniosacral therapy which he himself claim is a practitioner. He advised us to take up qigong. Continue reading ‘Qigong at Damansara Uptown and SlippedDisc’

18JunWhite Radish Soup

These carrot looking vegetables are actually white radish and is one of the more popular Asian soup. All you need is a few chunk of pork meat preferably the “boney” part of the pork which will make great soup due to the bloody stuffs or was it bone marrow inside the crushed bones that will add sweetness to the soup.

It may sound a bit disgusting but it is pretty common everywhere and bone marrow suppose to help reduce your bad cholesterol level! Hmm.. I don’t mind that… except it is rather pricey for that section of the meat… Continue reading ‘White Radish Soup’

15JunBraised Sea Cucumber with Dried Seafood

These little ugly looking “worm” may look disgusting but sea cucumber is consider one of the expensive delicacy and it has great healing benefits. Sea cucumber are actually marine life that found on the floor bed of the sea feeding on the debris like a scavenger.

If you look at a life one, you may have second thought about eating it. But luckily I have long eaten it when small and have no idea what it was back then. I always like to braise my sea cucumber with oyster sauce together with other seafood ingredients and you will end up with a wonderful pot of extremely tasty seafood dish. 09JunBoiled Honey Dew Dessert

I recently came across this dessert in one of the restaurant and like it very much after I sampled it. Is actually quite simple to make so I decided to gave it a try and made it at home. This dessert is similar to the 8-treasure dessert which I have had many times with the exception of the extra honey dew used as one of the ingredient.

The thing about this dessert is that you can never go wrong when you have the right base ingredients and you can mix and match around with the extra. The dried longan and sugar stone itself form the base of the taste which is good enough. Continue reading ‘Boiled Honey Dew Dessert’
