Lotus root soup is a simple, warm and nice soup to make. Some people use corns as the second main ingredient while I prefer to use peanuts since I like to chew on softened peanuts. It will takes awhile for the peanuts to become soft so you should start boiling the peanuts while you preparing the rest of the ingredients.
I always boil the peanuts on a separate pot for 5-10 minutes then discard the water before adding in the peanuts back to the main pot in order to reduce some coloring. This is to prevent your soup from becoming too murky or dark brown in color. Continue reading ‘Lotus Root and Peanut Soup’
It was weekend and I decided to make something complicated and special. Initially, I wanted to make those Hainanese chops but somehow I couldn’t get the sauce to taste right. So, I converted it into Oriental-style sauce for my pork chop and served with a baked mashed potato. Continue reading ‘Oriental Pork Chop’
After having a high cholesterol (and rather expensive) home cook dinner yesterday, we decided to eat something simple and most important cheap dinner today. There are a lot of simple vegetable soup that can be cooked in less than 10min. One of my favourite is fried egg with chives then addon water for a quick 5min boil. Such a simple and yet delicious soup. Continue reading ‘Chives & Egg Vege Soup’
One of my favorite type of pasta is carbonara because of the creaminess and of coz’ the bacons! I tried buying off-the-shelve carbonara in a tin and it tasted awful and I have no idea how to make the sauce until I googled it one day. Too my surprise, it was amazingly simple to make! However, the cost of the ingredients are not cheap.
The original carbonara sauce doesn’t use cream, but the modern more commercialized version use heavy dose of cream. My version of carbonara sauce, of cuz’ I went for the creamy version.
I have some left-over chicken breast, so I decided to use it as the side dish for the pasta. I marinate the chicken with salt, black peper and some Italian mix herbs. Continue reading ‘Carbonara with Baked Chicken Fillet’
My 10 years of primary and secondary education sucks… I hate waking up early morning daily catching the school bus, I hate going back to school on weekend for extra-curriculum, I hate PE class in school (i was fat when i was young), I hate all-boy school!!, I hate tuition everyday, I hate having no freedom how should I live my life at that time.
That 10 years went pass so awfully slow as if it was 30 years of my life. Then came 1996! the year I graduated secondary school (high school) and the beginning of my next 5 years of tertiary education in college far far away from home, my first time being away from home. My parents was worry sick, I was a bit scare, but the feeling of having total freedom living on my own excited me. And the next 5 years of my life has been the best I ever had. It was colorful, you meet many new peoples, you do things which you haven’t do before
, happy times and sad times. Continue reading ‘1996-2001 College Life’
